A teen, who was captain of her cheerleading squad in a town in Texas, is disdainful of what she has left behind. “What she is trading it in for is “$800 a porn shoot. They do five shoots the first week. That’s very attractive,” says film's co-director Ronna Gradus. 
Many of the teens get into the industry impulsively, for many the excitement fades and it becomes a horrible job and those feelings of freedom and empowerment disappear. And their parents, relatives and friends usually find out about their careers soon enough. Arguments that they are making choices about their own bodies sound specious when all you become is an object fulfilling male sex fantasies, some of them unsavory.

“Hot Girls Wanted” is a new documentary about making it in the porn industry that works as an excellent warning to viewers who might be tempted to try it as a path to success. After an initial montage of sex-positive pop culture, the filmmakers’ implication is that female role models can influence suggestible people into thinking sex work is a path to wealth and fame. The subjects of Hot Girls Wanted are mostly in their late teens, yearning to escape from parental control and make more money than they would at low-paying jobs in a lousy economy. Alyssa Rosenberg from The Washington Post's Opinions section says that “Hot Girls Wanted” makes the point that porn seems attractive in part because other options seem worse. “Do I want to be in my parents’ shoes when I’m their age?” muses Rachel in the movie. “No. I don’t want to go to college, meet someone when I’m in college, marry them, stay in my home town, have a bunch of kids and then die there.” The real shame of “Hot Girls Wanted” isn’t porn itself, but a lack of other, more sustainable opportunities, so girls, playing the part of a porn star, try to find freedom, money and adventure. A mob of several thousand people broke into a high-security prison in India, dragged out a rape suspect and killed him, officials said on Friday, adding that police had to impose a curfew to restore order. Rape has been a particularly emotive crime in India since 2012, when a student was raped and tortured on a bus in New Delhi and later died. The government has banned a documentary about that attack, re-igniting debate about gender inequality. 
The mob attacked the prison late on Thursday in the northeastern state of Nagaland. The man, a 35-year-old Muslim businessman accused of raping a woman, was dragged out and hauled naked through the streets and beaten to death.

"Security personnel at the jail were overpowered by the mob," said the state's chief minister, T.R.Zeliang. One person was killed and several injured when police fired on the mob. A curfew was imposed in the district late on Thursday and remained in force on Friday as the situation was "still tense", district police chief Meren Jamir told Reuters. Most people in Nagaland are Christian. Violence against women is widespread in India where a rape is reported on average every 21 minutes. 
Acid attacks, domestic violence and molestation are also common. There were 309,546 crimes against women reported to police in 2013, up from 244,270 the previous year, according to the National Crime Records Bureau. These include rape, kidnapping, sexual harassment and molestation.

A mob, consisting of thousands of people, stormed a prison compound in India's far northeast, dragging out a rape suspect before beating him to death on the streets. Police initially used tear gas and bamboo canes to rescue the inmate, but were not successful. The suspect died while being dragged four miles through the streets as people beat and pelted him with stones. The incident, which sparked outrage both in India and around the world, highlighted the frightening level of violence against women in this country. Despite the horrific and public nature of the attack, the violent mob is an embodiment of the country's increasingly tough stance and disgust towards for sexual violence. As Kali Yuga progresses, we witness how every society seems ready to explode into ghastly acts. Dressed in pink loose-fitting shirts and pants with orange scarves, they have shaved heads and rely on alms to pay for their schooling, food, housing, and other basic needs. Monks don’t have the same economic handicaps. The large temples pay for their needs, but that’s not surprising. In Myanmar, being a woman is hard, more so if you are poor and live in the north of the country, where tribes are still battling the government. Girls in these areas are in a precarious position, constantly in danger of being trafficked across foreign borders.
Concern over trafficking has led many parents in the north, who earn an average of $1,200 a year, to send their daughters south to the capital of Yangon and the only outlet for escape and education — the nunneries.

One of these institutions is located in Than Lynn, a 30-minute drive from the center of Yangon. At the Thadama Myintzu Nunnery, run by the nun Daw Aye Theingi, more than 200 girls, who range in age from 4 to 18, live in two small buildings with a rudimentary outdoor kitchen and bathing area. In many cases, the girls do not see their parents for years, if ever again. Due to a generous donation, the nunnery is building a modern three-story building to house all the girls, but it won’t be ready until summer. 
Daw scrapes up the $200 a year it takes to send each girl to a local school through donations. “I want a better life for them,” Daw said. At age 18, the girls will decide if they want to stay or leave to look for a life in the city. Almost none of them return home.

The Republic of the Union of Myanmar, also known as Burma, is well known for its role in human trafficking and its penchant for sex slaves. UNICEF estimated in 2003 that 10,000 girls were being trafficked every year from Myanmar into Thai brothels alone. Myanmar people are trafficked to Thailand, China, Malaysia, South Korea, and Macau for sexual exploitation, domestic servitude and forced labor. The women were all between the ages of 14 and 20 when they vanished. Neighbors and relatives celebrated the happy ending, but for some, the years had taken their toll. Three suspects are under arrest -- former school-bus driver Ariel Castro, 52, and his brothers Pedro, 54, and O'Neal, 50, police said.

Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson said at a Tuesday press conference that there are many unanswered questions: “Why were they taken, how they were taken and how they remained undetected in the city of Cleveland for all this time?” The three women were taken to nearby Metro Health Medical hospital, along with Berry's child, officials said. Police said the women appeared to be in good health and they had been taken to a hospital to be reunited with relatives and to be evaluated. Committing violence is a heinous sin. The case reached some level of closure on Sunday as Judge Thomas Lipps handed down the juvenile equivalent of a guilty verdict and sentenced the two defendants to what could be years in a juvenile correctional facility as a consequence of their actions last year. This verdict is a consequence not only of the defendants' actions that night, but also of decades of change in how society views sexual conduct - and how the law has evolved in response to this change.
In this case, a high school girl went to a party and allegedly drank so much that she began slurring her words and was occasionally unresponsive. Two football stars at the party are accused of taking advantage of her impaired state and engaging in sexual conduct with her.

A few decades ago, this behavior would probably have been considered inappropriate or "ungentlemanly." Today, it brings protesters into the streets and creates a nationwide outcry about sexual abuse. The law has evolved as societal norms have changed. Lots of sexual conduct occurs when one or both participants are intoxicated to some extent. The question that the law needs to answer is at what point one person's intoxication is so severe that she (or he, in theory) is legally unable to give meaningful consent. 
Ohio law sets this line at the point at which the victim's "ability to resist or consent was substantially impaired" by alcohol. But how impaired is "substantially impaired"? This could in theory be a fine line, though after hearing from the witnesses in this case, most people today would agree with the court that this victim was well over that line.

Two members of Steubenville’s celebrated high school football team were found guilty Sunday of raping a drunken 16-year-old girl. Prosecutors argued that the victim was so intoxicated she couldn’t consent to sex that night, while the defense contended the girl realized what she was doing and was known to lie. Ric Simmons, who teaches criminal law at the Ohio State University's Moritz College of Law, says that the photo of the victim in which she is being carried by her wrists and ankles at the party was critical to establishing her level of intoxication. "One of the defendants stated 'she (the victim) was like a dead body' and 'she could barely move.' The defendants knew that the victim was so impaired that she was unable to consent," Simmons says. If you just want to enjoy selfishly and abuse others then you have to accept your responsibility.

"We have asked the Maharashtra government to send a report on the unfortunate incident," Union minister of state for home R P N Singh said in Delhi on Thursday. Taking a suo motu cognisance of a media reports, the NHRC issued a notice to the state chief secretary seeking the report within four weeks. "They belong to a poor family. Quoting the villagers, the media report said that the post-mortem of the bodies was done only when they protested," the NHRC said in a statement. The girls, aged 11, 9 and 6, went missing on February 14. A day later, their brutalized bodies were found in a well three km from their home.

It was only after the villagers staged an agitation by blocking roads and protesting outside the police station that the cops finally lodged a case of murder, kidnapping, rape and other serious charges. Though the police initially registered a case of accidental death, post mortem report confirmed sexual abuse and murder, police said. Additional director general of police Javed Ahmad who visited the village on Thursday said there is no breakthrough yet even after seven days of the incident. The victims' mother met Bhandara superintendent of police on Wednesday and demanded arrest of her mother-in-law and others in the case. Ahmad said the police teams are investigating all possible angles in the case, including the allegations made by the mother of the victims. "Efforts are being made to nab the culprits. Several persons have been quizzed in this connection," Ahmad said.

Police were searching villages in western India on Friday for suspects in the rape and killing of three young sisters. The bodies of the sisters - aged 6, 9 and 11 - were found at the  bottom of a village well in Bhandara district in Maharashtra. Initial medical reports inform the girls were sexually assaulted. The shocking news comes as India is still reeling from the horrific case occurred last December in New Delhi, in which five men and a juvenile are accused of gang raping and murdering a 23-year-old woman. Another heinous sexual attack which shows that during the terrible age of Kali-yuga men are increasingly devoid of good qualities, as described in many Puranas.

WHAT DO THE VEDIC TEACHINGS TELL US? 

In Kali-yuga it is seen that women become stronger, bolder, and  more independent. In some cases, women are forced to become strong and independent due to being mistreated or left unprotected by men of little character. The Bhagavatam (1.16.21) explains that  women and children are left unhappy and forlorn by unscrupulous men who often search for young girls with whom they might have illicit sex. ... The Vishnu Purana (Book Four, Chapter 24) also confirms this, stating that union between the sexes will be based on passion alone, and women will be mere objects of gratification.  ... By the time this takes place in Kali-yuga, child pornography, rape, and other sexual crimes will be out of control. Politicians and law officers will be bribed into impotence, some even participating in  and profiting from these perverse activities.

www.eurasiareview.com - A young woman is in hospital in critical condition after throwing herself off a moving train in an attempt to escape molestation. It’s the latest in a number of incidents that have exposed the vulnerability of women in India. The 25-year-old woman jumped from the carriage of a moving train after allegedly being molested by a soldier. 
The attack occurred while the train was en route from Darjeeling to Delhi. The man groped her after she had visited the lavatory. After pushing him back, the woman jumped from the Brahmaputra Mail line train. The mother of two is being treated in hospital in the city of Patna. “Her condition continues to be critical. A team of doctors is treating her. She has suffered injuries to her head and legs,” authorities said. A member of the Assam Rifles paramilitary force has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. 

It comes just weeks after a 23-year-old medical student was gang-raped on a bus in Dehli, while her male companion was severely beaten. She later died from her injuries in hospital. In the immediate aftermath of the rape, no one responded to their cries for help. Police and passersby left the mortally injured female student lying naked and bleeding for almost an hour. Her case has resonated with the population as hundreds of thousands took to the streets to voice their anger over the attack and the lack of police response. The rapists have been arrested. Five of the men detained have been indicted with gang rape and murder, and are likely to face execution. 
People demanded new laws to protect Indian women. In an effort to provide more protection on transport routes and deter gangs operating on trains, the railway police have stepped up patrols. In 2012, police apprehended nearly 15 gangs and recovered 15 weapons from trains.

The problem of sexual violence against women appears to touch all levels of Indian society, as on Thursday the ruling Congress party in Assam state suspended a politician accused of rape a woman at the village of Santipur. The villagers later attacked the politician and captured the footage on tape. New Delhi has an infamous reputation as India’s rape capital, seemingly confirmed by a report in the Hindustan Times that documents more than 20 rape cases in the city since December 16th, the day of the rape and brutal murder of the 23-year-old medical student. In every society, there is frustration, there is depression, there is loneliness. The mind is simply not satisfied and having more and more sex or commiting sexual crimes to gratify desires is like putting gasoline in the fire.

So much progress. So on every level people’s lives are longer than they were ten years ago, twenty years ago. The life expectancy of all the nations of the world that are developing medically, technologically is raising, raising, raising. Economically, so much progress has been made. ... So with all this progress why the greatest medical problem is mental health, mental disease, depression. This is a serious problem today, depression and it’s not the problem is not amongst just the poor people. It’s the upper class, the aristocrats as well as the middle class. So much depression. Insanity, frustration, suicide; just people minds just burst with craziness, they just go on rape people, shoot people. ... People are turning to alcohol, drugs. Why? Because they are frustrated, they are lonely. People need happiness, but unfortunately, in society today people do not know what happiness is.

MOM SELLS GIRL, 13, AS SEX SLAVE

Cape Town (www.iol.co.za) - Western Cape police are hunting a mom who allegedly sold her 13-year-old daughter as a sex slave for just R50 a time. The woman allegedly regularly took her little girl to bushes or outside shebeens and rented her out to men. She allegedly used the money to feed her own alcohol addiction as her little one was being raped. 
The alleged abuse only came to light when the girl told one of her friends who in turn alerted their teacher. The girl is now being cared for at a shelter run by Atlantis ward councillor and abuse councillor Barbara Rass. “I have to applaud the teacher, the silence was broken,” Rass said. “It seems everyone knew what was going on but no one protected her… no one intervened at any point. If she didn’t tell her friend and that teacher, this would have been continuing. 
A case was formally opened with the police who are investigating a case of rape and child prostitution.

Rass - who has 35 years experience serving the community and fighting on behalf of victims of sex attacks - was close to tears as she spoke of the horrific case. She said the teen told her how her mother would allegedly lure her to shebeens to have sex with old men. “The mother would take her to the shebeen yard and say ‘here is a man for you’,” said Barbara. 
Waste removal trucks chugged along the main dusty road leading out of the area which is surrounded by bush and shacks. The traumatised teen finally ended up in the care of the police last week. Her skeletal frame and dark eyes hint at the awful pain she has endured. She fidgeted nervously as she revealed that she lived with her mom and stepfather, who frequently called her foul names. Local community leaders are demanding the arrest of the girl’s mom. And they want her to point out all the perverts that paid her to have sex with her underage child. Police sources confirmed they are hunting for the girl’s mother.

This 13-year-old South African girl from the farm Frankdale near Atlantis was sold for prostitution by her own mom, in order to satisfy her mother's vice of drinking alcohol. The young girl spoke - in the presence of her temporary guardians - about the abuse she has suffered. “I feel no mercy should be given to mothers who sell their own offspring. The court should deal with her like they would deal with someone who had underage sex with a minor. She was being sold for R50, this is disgusting. I want the mother to be exposed,” demanded Barbara Rass, a councilor specializing in sexual abuse issues. Authorities are drawing up a list of the names of the girl’s alleged attackers, but so far no arrests have been made. Until then, their main concern is to keep the girl safe from new further abuses. The extreme neglect to comply with the duty of caring the helpless ones is when mothers allow their own daughters to be abused in order to satisfy their vices.

WHAT DO THE VEDIC TEACHINGS TELL US? 

"The brāhmaṇas, the cows and the defenseless creatures are My own body. ..." (SB 3.16.10) The defenseless creatures, according to Brahma-samhitā, are the cows, brāhmanas, women, children and old men. ... Just as children are taken care of by the parents, women as a class should be taken care of by the father, husband or grown-up son. Those who are helpless must be taken care of by their respective guardians, otherwise the guardians will be subjected to the punishment of Yamarāja, who is appointed by the Lord to supervise the activities of sinful living creatures. The assistants, or messengers, of Yamarāja are likened here to vultures, and those who do not execute their respective duties in protecting their wards are compared to serpents. Vultures deal very seriously with serpents, and similarly the messengers will deal very seriously with neglectful guardians.
