THREE VILLAGES DESTROYED, 350 TRAPPED IN MUD

KAMPALA, Uganda (CNN) - More than 100 bodies recovered after massive landslides in Uganda, but officials fear the rain-triggered landslide in the mountainous region may have buried another 350 people. They were trapped in mud after massive landslides wiped out several villages on the Uganda-Kenya border. This landslide engulfed three villages in the Bududa on Monday, following more than a week of heavy rain in the area. Rocks and mud from the mountains gave way after three days of rain destroying an entire trading center on a market day. Officials say the mudslide destroyed homes, markets, schools, and a health clinic. Dozens of bodies were recovered from a hospital and church where people had run to seek shelter, officials said. The hospital and church were buried when torrents of mud swept down on them.

Unfortunately, the final death toll is expected to be much higher, after crews are able to navigate the vast region affected by the disaster and find more victims. And more rain is forecast for the area. In the meantime, the bodies recovered will be buried in mass graves. Officials expect more landslides in the coming weeks, as further heavy rains were in the forecast for the region. Landslides are part of life in Uganda during the rainy season, but the latest instance has been considered quite serious for its high number of victims. The landslides came when rivers on the mountain overflowed with heavy rains, but deforestation, farming and other human activity on its slopes also contributed to the problem.

Utter their names and pray to Them. It is the nature of Supreme Lord to rescue the surrendered souls.
